The Butterfly class is our Pre-Kindergarten class. They focus on one letter per week, with art, cooking, and phonics around that letter. The children also have choices of classroom and outdoor areas. These are the times when art, dramatic play, science, blocks, bicycles, gardening and play structures are a choice. These activities are often related to a monthly unit the class is studying. During the morning there are 40 minutes of centers. At this time they are rotated between different stations such as Manipulatives, Writing, Math and Listening. The Butterflies have a music teacher on Wednesdays and Thursdays to add to their music experience.

TEACHER PROFILES:

Tanya

My name is Tanya, and I am a teacher in the Butterfly Classroom. I have over 5 years’ experience working in the community with children from infants through age 5. I recently received my certification in Early Childhood Education from Santa Barbara City College. I am grateful to be a part of the LAPS community, and look forward to learning and growing with the children. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.

Rosalie

My name is Rosalie and I am one of the teachers in the Butterfly Class. This is my 22nd year teaching preschool. I started teaching with Dolores Soto in 1998 as an assistant at another local preschool, then started teaching here at Little Angels in 2003. I left and spent 4 years teaching at another local preschool but returned to LAPS in 2018 to my former position. I took Early Childhood courses at SBCC and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development from the University of La Verne. I am CPR and First aid certified.

Angelina

My name is Angelina, and I am the Assistant in the Butterfly Class (the Pre-K). I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, and love it here! I have been a nanny in the past and love children, so I decided to enroll in Early Childhood courses at SBCC. I now plan to take more courses, and hope to someday teach elementary school here in Santa Barbara, staying close to the beach that I love! I am so excited to have the opportunity to work at Little Angels, gaining experience in a school setting. I look forward to getting to know the Butterfly children and their families. I am CPR and first aid certified.

When drop-in days are available, the rate is $75 per day payable the morning of.

There is an annual registration fee of $250.00. If there are two children enrolled, then one is $250 and the other is $150. A $300 deposit per child is also due (this deposit will apply towards the first months fall tuition). Both are due at the registration appointment in April and are non-refundable.

Tuition can be paid for the year or as a courtesy to you can be paid in 10 monthly installments, August through May (one month in advance). The payments are due on the 1st of the month, delinquent after the 5th. There is no credit for absences, and no substitution days.

*A school year runs from the middle of August to the middle of June, exact dates to be determined annually.

All tuition and the registration fee are non-refundable and subject to change.
