Staff of Little Angels Preschool


Our teachers are certified and experienced in the field of Early Childhood Education. We believe that the most important qualification of a staff member is a genuine and visible love for children.

Mary Lopez

My name is Mary Lopez and I have been the Director of Little Angels Preschool since its opening in September 2002. I graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program at Santa Barbara City College and am First Aid and CPR certified.

I worked as a teacher/director for 13 years at another local preschool that closed and many years teaching preschool before that. I am one of the founding staff members of Little Angels and so proud of it! I have worked with many of the teachers for years, even before Little Angels. I feel so blessed to have been able to stay together all these years.

Ladybug 2/3 yrs

Cindy Ornelas

My name is Cindy Ornelas and I am the Lead Teacher in the Ladybug Room. I graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program at Santa Barbara City College. I am also First Aid and CPR certified.

I have worked with Mary Lopez and many of the other teachers for almost 20 years.

I started the Ladybug Room many years ago at another preschool and when the school closed, helped open Little Angels and continued the Ladybug Class here. I am proud to be working with children for so many years, in a career that I truly love.

Rosa Medina

My name is Rosa Medina and I am one of the teachers in the Ladybug Class. I have been at Little Angels since 2009 and love it!  I have taken many Early Childhood Education Courses at Santa Barbara City College and continue to take classes to further my knowledge in the field. I have an AA degree in Liberal Arts. I am also First Aid and CPR certified.
 

Eileen Gonzalez

My name is Eileen Gonzalez and I am the assistant in the Ladybug Class. I was born and raised in Santa Barbara. I worked in the banking industry for many years until my children began preschool. Once they started preschool I changed careers and worked at their preschool as an assistant for 9 years. I have been at Little Angels since it’s opening in 2002. I am also First Aid and CPR certified.

Bumblebee 3/4 yrs

Lisa Szymovicz

My name is Lisa Szymovicz and I am the Lead Teacher in the Bumblebee Class. I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Santa Barbara City College. I am also First Aid and CPR certified. In 1991 Mary Lopez and I opened a Preschool in Santa Barbara for a private elementary school. After it’s closing in 2002 I helped found Little Angels a few months later. We are all so proud of and love our school!
 

Carlina Gonzalez

My name is Carlina Gonzalez. I have been one of the teachers in the Bumblebee Class since 2004. I have actually worked with children for many years before that in after school programs and coaching basketball at multiple local schools. In addition, I have ran a K-8 athletic program at Girls Inc. of Carpinteria. I have completed Early Childhood Education Courses at Santa Barbara City College and I am First Aid and CPR certified.

Jennifer Wilson

My name is Jenny Wilson and I am the assistant in the Bumblebee Class. I am actually teacher qualified and graduated last spring from Santa Barbara City College with a Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently enrolled in more ECE Courses at SBCC to further my knowledge in the field. I am also First Aid and CPR certified.

I have volunteered at a local Parent/Child Workshop and have volunteered at my Church’s nursery for many years. I have been at Little Angels since January of 2010!
Each year I look forward to getting to know the Bumblebee Children and their families!

Butterfly 4/5 yrs

Dolores Soto

My name is Dolores Soto and I am the Lead Teacher in the Pre-Kindergarten Class (the Butterflies). Teaching at Little Angels is a dream come true. I attended the Early Childhood Education Program at Santa Barbara City College and I am First Aid and CPR certified.

I taught at another local preschool for eight years. I knew Mary Lopez for many years and was thrilled when I was able to join the LAPS team in 2003 and take over the Butterfly Class.
 

Rosalie Galvez

My name is Rosalie Galvez and I am one of the teachers in the Pre-K Classroom (the Butterflies). I’ve completed Early Childhood Education Courses at Santa Barbara City College and also have a BS degree in Child Development. I am also First Aid and CPR certified.

My experience includes working with children of all ages for many years as well as being an assistant at a local preschool for 4 years.  I have been at Little Angels as a teacher in the Pre-K since 2003!
 

ALEXIS ROGERS

Hi! My name is Alexis Rogers and this is my first year working at Little Angels and I am the assistant in the Butterfly Class. Previously I was an assistant at another local preschool. I am currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education Courses through Saddleback College and Santa Barbara City College and am working towards my AS degree. I am also First Aid and CPR certified. I’ve always enjoyed working with young children and I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with the children at Little Angels.
