The Butterfly Class is our Pre-Kindergarten class and prepares students for kindergarten in a fun and engaging way! We focus on one letter per week, with art, cooking, and phonics activities around that letter. We also have 30 minutes of learning centers each morning, during which students rotate through three stations: phonics/writing, a math game, and a cognitive or listening activity. Despite being slightly more academic than the Ladybug and Bumblebee classes, our Butterfly students still receive a lot of time for free play inside the classroom and in our large outdoor spaces. On Wednesdays and Thursdays each week, we have music time with our music teacher, Mr. Jon. One day a month, our director leads “Chapel,” where simple, positive Bible stories are told. We also have students do a monthly show & tell to build their confidence in speaking to a group. Our low teacher-student ratio ensures that students receive the care and attention they deserve, and our Butterflies leave this class ready to tackle Kindergarten.

Every year is different based on the interests of the children, however these are some of the units that we’ve covered: Apples, Rainforest, Teddy Bears, Money, Wild Animals, Sports, Health & Safety, New Life, Sea Life, and Summer Fun.

TEACHER PROFILES:

Rosalie

My name is Rosalie, and I am a teacher in the Butterfly Class. I have been a teacher locally for over 25 years and have been at Little Angels since 2003 (aside from a 4-year stint at another local preschool). Along with being CPR and First Aid certified, I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from the University of La Verne. I am so happy to be doing what I love in the town I was born and raised in!

Fatima

My name is Fatima, and I am a teacher in the Butterfly Class. I have been working with children since 2017 and in the teaching field since 2022. I love what I do! I have my Associate of Science degree in early childhood education as well as one in sociology. I am also CPR and First Aid certified. I am very happy to be a teacher at Little Angels, and help our little ones grow to be amazing adults of the future!
