In the Ladybug Class, children are introduced to school in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment. As the youngest class at Little Angels, the Ladybugs focuses on social and emotional growth, along with nurturing the development of each unique individual. Throughout the day we offer a variety of hands-on sensory and art activities. During free play, children are encouraged to explore all classroom areas: Cognitive, Block, Dramatic Play, Self-Help Art, and Library. We also have Circle Time daily, which includes songs, movement, stories, and learning concepts. One day a month, our director takes over Circle Time for "Bible Time," where simple, positive Bible stories are told. Our children spend a lot of time outdoors and they do so in a separate yard from our other classes, with structures and equipment geared for 2- to 3-year-old children. Our teachers will change diapers in this class and assist with potty training. You can see a sample daily schedule below.

3:45 – 4:00		Story Time Inside
*		Hands are washed at every transition
*		Diapers are checked frequently and as needed

CURRICULUM UNITS:

Every year is different based on the interests of the children, however these are some of the units that we’ve covered: Welcome to School, Our Families, Transportation, Dinosaurs/Reptiles, Sea Life, Senses/Emotions, Bugs, Music, and Summer Fun.

TEACHER PROFILES:

Cindy

My name is Cindy and I am a teacher in the Ladybug Room. I graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program at Santa Barbara City College. I am also First Aid and CPR certified.

I have been working with Mary Lopez for over 20 years. I started the Ladybug Room many years ago at another preschool and when the school closed, helped open Little Angels and continued the Ladybug Class here. I am proud to be working with children for so many years, in a career that I truly love.

MAYRA

My name is Mayra and I am one of the teachers in the Ladybug Classroom. I have taken many Early Childhood courses at SBCC, and love gaining knowledge about young children. Prior to coming to Little Angels, I worked in an elementary school’s after school program for 3 years. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.

Madison

My name is Madison, but most people call me Maddie, and I am one of the teachers in the Ladybug Classroom! I was born and raised here in Santa Barbara. I attended Humboldt State University, where I graduated with my BA in Child Development and a Minor in American Indian Education. I am also First Aid and CPR certified. Being the director's daughter, I have been a part of Little Angels and a preschool environment my entire life. I have been teaching since 2017 and can’t imagine doing anything else!
